Engineering Solutions: Air Pollution
Problem led design solutions
Engineering solutions: Air pollution is a teacher’s pack that will introduce your students to engineering and explore how engineers can solve global challenges, focusing on the problem air pollution.
The pack has been designed to be complementary to both Science and D&T curriculums at Key Stage 3 and 4.
What's in the pack?
Real-world problems
The pack contains five lesson plans, videos and posters that will teach students what air pollution is and how the Dyson Pure Cool™ purifying fan works as a solution to indoor air pollution. Students will complete experiments and analyse data before designing and building their own solution to air pollution.
Teacher's pack
Lesson plans and worksheets
This pack contains lesson plans and worksheets. It also contains summary information for you, the teacher, explaining how the lessons relate to the science of air pollution and Dyson technology.
Build an air quality monitoring device
Collect and analyse data
The pack contains an optional lesson, Lesson 02B, in which students will build their own air quality monitoring device to measure air pollution levels around their school. This lesson requires electronic equipment, listed in the lesson plan, and Arduino code which you can download below.
Videos
Dyson purifying technology
These videos are referenced in the teacher's pack and provide additional information about the Dyson Pure Cool™ purifying fan, as an engineering solution to the problem of air pollution.
POSTERS
